Lionel Richie Stole the Show!
Legally Blonde really knows how to draw in a crowd. He sang well, interacted well with the audience members, and had everyone listening to and singing along with him. He did not let his adoring fans down with his amazing performance demonstrating his years of experience singing his songs and interacting with the audience who absolutely loved him. Of course, his very talented band members were just as energetic. They contributed to a very successful and unforgettable concert which we enjoyed immensely. He has the energy and stamina, and the humor and humility that endear him even more to his appreciative fans.
The concert began at 7:00 pm with an unknown young singer with his band who was very talented, but never gained my enthusiastic attention because the sound system was too loud and the bass was overpowering. We didn't expect to have to wait 2 1/2 hours for him to perform. That being said, I find fault with the Honda Center's sound system. Also, I don't enjoy the type of music he was singing. After all, we came to hear Lionel Richie.
A big and unexpected disappointment, however, was Mariah Carey's lackluster, non-energetic performance. In fact, she was even carried off stage at times and didn't seem to want to be there. It was really unprofessional that her hair and makeup people came out during the performance while she was seated and worked on her hair and makeup while her band members and dancers had to help her around the stage with her long dress. What was with that? People came far and wide and spent a lot of money to see her. She could hardly move. Additionally, the sound system was too loud and the bass was overwhelming to the point that it was hard to hear her at times. She, of course, enjoyed the applause for her singing and pretty smile, but she really lacked that enthusiastic performance style that wakes an audience up and draws them in. Legally Blonde simply saved the day. I was happy when she had finished. If she had put some effort into it and had moved around, she would have done much better. Finally, why didn't she have the same type of large screen as Legally Blonde so people could see her up close? That might have helped her.
